What’s Included
- Inspection & Assessment: our team will examine your jewellery for fallen or loosened stones, defects or damages, or other structural concerns before proceeding.
- Replating & Finishing: Expert restoration of the selected finish, including cleaning and repolishing.
- Warranty: DINIDU provides warranty coverage for any damage occurring during the replating process.
- Lifetime Complimentary Services: For gold jewellery purchased by DINIDU, replating in the same colour and black rhodium replating, in addition to cleaning and repolishing services, are offered free-of-charge.

- Express Replating: For priority replating within a shorter timeframe, express services can be arranged, subject to availability and additional charges.
Service Process
- Book an appointment: Schedule a meeting with our team via a call or WhatsApp message and visit us at our boutique in Colombo 07 with your jewellery and its certifications.
- Inspection & intake: Our team will assess the condition of the piece, check for defects, loosened or fallen stones and the complexity of the design. Following the assessment, an estimated timeline for delivery will be provided.
- Processing: Jewellery replating will be completed within a standard timeframe of 5 business days, which is subject to change depending on the complexity of the design. However, if express services are required, shorter timelines may be provided, subject to availability and additional charges.
- Notification: Our team will contact you via a call or WhatsApp message once your jewellery is ready for collection.
- Collection: Collect your item in-store. Jewellery may be collected by the owner or an authorised third party with prior notice. The customer is required to share a contact number and a copy of the NIC/ passport in advance to arrange collection by a third party. Items can be collected without an invoice by sending a confirmation message via WhatsApp from the registered contact number.
Important Guidelines
- Eligibility: Replating services are available only for jewellery purchases by DINIDU. We do not accept non-DINIDU pieces for replating.
- Certification Required: Jewellery certification must be presented at the jewellery drop-off. The purchase receipt is not required.
- In-Store Drop-off: Jewellery must be personally brought to the boutique. Courier services are not accepted.
- Scope of Service: Replating restores the surface finish and colour of your jewellery only. It does not include repairs, resizing, stone replacement, engraving or other structural modifications. Any additional work required can be separately assessed and quoted upon request.
- Unlimited Service: Complimentary replating is available without a usage limit for DINIDU gold jewellery items only.
- Different Colour Plating: If the plating applied is different to the colour of the existing plating (e.g., yellow gold over white gold), additional charges will apply.
- Express Services: Express timelines for replating may be offered depending upon the complexity of the design, with additional charges applied.
FAQ
How long will the plating last?
Plating longevity depends on your usage and care. While gold plating can last from approximately 6 months to 2 years, silver plating may last from 2 months up to 2 years.
Can I change the plating colour of my jewellery?
Yes, you can. We can replate your jewellery with a colour that is different to its original plating at an additional charge.
Is black rhodium plating available?
Yes. Black rhodium plating is available complimentary for gold jewellery and for silver jewellery at a charge of Rs. 6000.
Can I get same-day replating done?
Express timelines, such as same-day replating may be available depending upon the complexity of the jewellery design and will be subject to additional charges.
